It is a legal and moral requirement that leaders of school parties and others in a responsible position take reasonable care of themselves and other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions. Well before a Kench Hill visit the group leader is sent a pack with details of the essential preliminary visit, accommodation, study possibilities etc. Leaders should send information about the make up of group, staff ratios and experience to the Centre in advance of their visit.
Leaders should also inform their local authority School Visits Coordinator about plans for any residential trips and complete the relevant documentation. Hackney schools should refer to The Learning Trust's Health & Safety manual pages on Educational Visits and Risk Assessment http://trustnet/Trust/Services/healthandsafety/Pages/Addinfo.aspx and inform Health & Safety Manager, David Norwich. This is the revised Health & Safety manual published in May 2010. It supercedes all previous documents.
You can download our Health & Safety Manual below. You may wish to print only the risk assessments relevant to your visit.
