| planning a visit |
|
New group leaders may be daunted by the prospect of organising a residential trip. We take much of the strain from you, but the task is eased with careful forward planning. See the Summary to Planning a Visit (below) for an overview of the planning timetable. Involve other colleagues where possible - administrative staff and teaching assistants can take responsibility to collect permission letters, organise school grants, payments. This should be done well in advance – start the process as soon as your booking is confirmed by informing parents who may need to start saving up. You will receive a comprehensive teacher’s pack direct by e-mail. All other information and forms you will need are downloadable on this website. If you prefer a hard copy, please contact us directly. See What We Offer for the range of Activities and Day trips that we can facilitate. These are very popular, but we will be pleased to discuss any other options you suggest and can tailor a visit to suit your individual needs. New group leaders should arrange a preliminary visit to the Centre. It may be possible to arrange a planning meeting with one of our staff at your school.
To give you an idea you can download an example of well-planned and organised school visit here. (With thanks to Liz Cooke and Grazebrook Primary School, LB Hackney).
You need to send us the KHV Programme form at least 6 weeks before your trip, once you have discussed and agreed this with the Head of Centre. In summer months many day trip venues and coach operators are very busy so give us as much notice as possible (up to a year in advance) so we can ensure your choice. An example of a typical week is shown below, but we can also plan thematic weeks around topics of your choice. Parents should return the KHM1 consent forms to you several weeks before the trip so you can summarise the pupils' dietary and other special needs information on the KHD1 form which must be sent to us a week before your visit.
